Sweet Dreams

Eurythmics · 1983
Recording

Recorded in early 1983 by Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart in Eurythmics’ tiny attic project studio in Chalk Farm, North London, then completed in a small room at The Church Studios. The track was built from Lennox and Stewart’s synthesizers and home-recording setup. It was Eurythmics’ breakthrough single, turning the duo into international stars and becoming their first major hit in the United States. Its success also helped validate home recording as a viable pop-production method. The song remains one of Eurythmics’ signature recordings and a staple of Lennox’s live performances. It has been widely recognized as an 1980s pop classic, including induction into the Grammy Hall of Fame and selection for the National Recording Registry.
