Don't Knock My Love

Don't Knock My Love

Cane and Able · 1970
Recording

Recorded by Miami soul duo Cane and Able during the early 1970s, the track was cut with a studio band associated with the TK Records and Alston Records orbit. The session emphasized the group's harmony vocals over a tight funk and soul rhythm section. The record showcased Cane and Able's blend of southern soul and emerging funk influences at a time when Miami was becoming a major center of Black popular music. Although not a major crossover hit, it earned regional attention and club play. The recording later found an audience among rare-groove collectors and DJs searching for overlooked deep soul and funk releases. Its groove and vocal arrangement have kept it in circulation through compilations and collector circles.
