Sheila Landis · 1981
Recording

The track was recorded in 1981 at Brokensha Recording Studios with Sheila Landis providing vocals and percussion, accompanied by her backing ensemble known as Her Bandits of Bebop. Released as a standout track on her self-financed sophomore album Guess I'll Call It Love, the record established Landis as a premier independent force in the Detroit jazz scene and highlighted her distinctive vocal gymnastics and tight scatting. The composition gained an international cult following among rare groove collectors, eventually leading to a prominent UK reissue on Counterpoint Records and a celebrated electronic dance remix by Munich-based production duo Las Gammas.
