The Lot

Sister Suvi · 2008
Recording

Sister Suvi recorded The Lot for their debut album Now I Am Champion, with Merrill Garbus, Patrick Gregoire and Nico Dann performing as the trio. Kees Dekker recorded and mixed the track, and Harris Newman mastered the album. The Lot was singled out by Pitchfork before the album's release as a breakneck highlight from Now I Am Champion. The track helped introduce Sister Suvi's Montreal-Toronto lineup beyond the members' work with tUnE-yArDs and Islands. The Lot remains the best-documented song from Sister Suvi's short catalogue. Its connection to Merrill Garbus's pre-breakthrough work gives it continuing interest within the extended tUnE-yArDs orbit.
