Heartbeats

The track was recorded for Veneer as José González solo acoustic cover of the Knife song Heartbeats. The recording was produced by González and released during his early Göteborg period on the Swedish label Imperial Recordings. Released on Veneer in 2003 and later as a single, it became González breakthrough recording outside Sweden. Its use in Sony Bravia television advertising helped the single reach number 9 on the UK Singles Chart in 2006. It remains González signature recording and one of the best known acoustic reinterpretations of an electronic pop song from the 2000s. The track helped establish his international audience and kept the Knife original in wider circulation.
