Do You Realize

Recorded during the Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots sessions with Wayne Coyne, Steven Drozd, and Michael Ivins, working with Dave Fridmann and Scott Booker. The recording was made between the band's Oklahoma base and Fridmann's Tarbox Road Studios in New York. Released by Warner Bros. in 2002, Do You Realize?? became one of The Flaming Lips' most visible songs from Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. It reached number 32 on the UK Singles Chart and helped turn the album into the band's broadest critical and commercial breakthrough. The song remains The Flaming Lips' signature anthem and was named the official rock song of Oklahoma in 2009. Its use in film, television, advertising, and public ceremonies gave it a cultural reach beyond the band's alternative audience.
