Don't Let It Bring You Down

Neil Young recorded Don't Let It Bring You Down on March 17, 1970 during the After the Gold Rush sessions at his home studio in Topanga Canyon, California. The recording featured Young on guitar and vocal, Nils Lofgren on piano, Greg Reeves on bass and Ralph Molina on drums. The song appeared on After the Gold Rush, one of Young's key early solo albums for Reprise. Its stark lyric and minor-key arrangement became part of the darker emotional centre of the record. Don't Let It Bring You Down became a durable Neil Young catalogue song through live versions on 4 Way Street, Live at Massey Hall 1971 and Live at the Cellar Door. It has also been covered by artists including Annie Lennox, Victoria Williams, Hookfoot and Cowboy Junkies.
