Shake Your Hips

Shake Your Hips

The Rolling Stones · 1972
Recording

The track was recorded for Exile on Main St. with Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Mick Taylor, Bill Wyman and Charlie Watts. Sessions took place at Villa Nellcôte in France and Olympic Studios in London, with Jimmy Miller producing and Andy Johns engineering much of the album. Released on Exile on Main St. in 1972, it showed the Rolling Stones drawing directly from Louisiana blues through Slim Harpo material. Though not issued as a single, it helped define the album raw blues and roots based character. It remains a notable Exile on Main St. deep cut and one of the band documented Slim Harpo covers. The track reinforces the Rolling Stones long connection to American blues repertoire and their early 1970s studio sound.
