Frekm, Pt. 1

Recorded for the Meaning's Edge EP, DjRUM's first solo release after 2019, with Felix Manuel writing and producing the track. The recording uses Manuel's own flute playing as a central source, with the Frekm pieces derived from the same improvisational flute line. Released by Houndstooth in 2024, Frekm, Pt. 1 helped introduce the Meaning's Edge EP as a reassertion of DjRUM's rhythmically detailed, hybrid electronic production. Critical coverage highlighted the track's contrast between playful flute-led writing and heavier electro movement. The track remains part of DjRUM's post-2019 return and a clear example of his renewed use of live instrumental material inside club-focused electronic structures. Its relationship with Frekm, Pt. 2 made it central to the EP's paired-track architecture.
