Whispers

Whispers was written and produced by Aeroplane, the Belgian production duo Vito De Luca and Stephen Fasano, with lyrics and vocals by Kathy Diamond. The original 12-inch was lacquer cut by Nilz at The Exchange and released in Belgium by Eskimo Recordings. The single followed Aeroplane's early Eskimo 12-inches and brought the duo wider attention in the 2008 Balearic and nu-disco scene. Pitchfork ranked Whispers among its 100 best tracks of 2008, praising its forceful synths, deep bass and Kathy Diamond's vocals. Whispers remains one of Aeroplane's defining pre-album singles and a key record from the late-2000s European disco revival. Its Hercules & Love Affair remix also kept the song in circulation among crossover indie-dance and club audiences.
