Just Be Good to Me

Just Be Good to Me

The S.O.S. Band · 1983
Recording

Recorded at Master Sound Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, during the sessions for On the Rise. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced the track, with Mary Davis on lead vocals. Released as the lead single from On the Rise in 1983, it became The S.O.S. Band’s signature Jam and Lewis collaboration and a defining example of the duo’s sleek electro-funk production. It helped push the group into wider pop visibility. The track remained a durable reference point for 1980s R&B and dance music. It was later reworked and covered by artists including Beats International, Deborah Cox, Mariah Carey, Shayne Ward, and Faithless.
