Recording

Recorded in the mid-1970s as part of Connors's Buddah Records period, with his Starship Orchestra ensemble featuring a large cast of studio musicians drawn from the New York jazz-funk scene, including vocalists and an expansive rhythm section. The track appeared on the album You Are My Starship, which established Connors as a leading figure in the jazz-funk and cosmic soul movement, blending spiritual jazz with lush orchestration and R&B production values. Connors's Buddah-era recordings became foundational crate-digging material for hip-hop producers and rare groove DJs in the 1990s, and tracks from You Are My Starship have been sampled widely across subsequent decades.
