Recording

Kasabian recorded “Re-Wired” during the November 2010–March 2011 Velociraptor! sessions in Leicester. Sergio Pizzorno wrote the song, Dan the Automator produced it, and the recording featured Tom Meighan on lead vocals, Pizzorno on guitars, synthesizers and backing vocals, Chris Edwards on bass, Ian Matthews on drums, Gary Alesbrook on trumpet, Mat Coleman on trombone, Andrew Kinsman on saxophone and the London Metropolitan Orchestra on strings. Released by RCA in 2011 as the second single from Velociraptor!, it followed “Days Are Forgotten” in the campaign for Kasabian’s third UK number-one album. Its brass, strings and electronic-rock arrangement became one of the album’s most direct stadium-facing moments and reached the UK Official Singles Chart. The track remains a recognisable Velociraptor! single and a staple example of Kasabian’s early-2010s shift toward broader, more orchestrated production. Its Sky Sports Premier League use extended the song’s reach beyond the album’s original audience.
