Sharon Jones and the Dap‐Kings · 2005
Recording

Recorded at Daptone Records' House of Soul studio in Brooklyn with Sharon Jones backed by the Dap-Kings. The track was cut using the band's analogue recording approach under the direction of bassist and bandleader Gabriel Roth. Released on Naturally, the song showcased the group's commitment to authentic soul and funk revivalism at a time when the style was largely absent from the mainstream. It helped establish Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings as leading figures in the modern soul movement. The recording remains a representative example of the Daptone sound and the resurgence of vintage-inspired soul music in the 2000s. The band's work influenced a generation of retro-soul artists and helped revive interest in analogue recording techniques.
