Won't Waste You

Jodeci recorded 'Won't Waste You' featuring Missy Elliott for their second album Diary of a Mad Band, with Mr. Dalvin producing the track, which incorporated a sample of Dobie Gray's 'Drive On, Ride On' and was released through Uptown and MCA Records. Released in December 1993 as part of Diary of a Mad Band, the album debuted at number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and number three on the Billboard 200, with the track standing as an early credited appearance for Missy Elliott as she was beginning to establish herself within DeVante Swing's Swing Mob production collective. The track holds historical interest as one of Missy Elliott's earliest professional songwriting and feature credits before her emergence as a solo star, and it remains part of an album widely regarded as a defining document of Jodeci's mid-1990s hip-hop-inflected R&B sound.
