Somebody Needs You

Issued as a May 1965 Loma single by Ike & Tina Turner, the record paired Frank Wilson’s song with the duo’s Ike Turner-led production team. It was cut as a studio single for the Revue era and first appeared on the Loma 2015 release. The track stood out as a rare non-album single in the duo’s mid-1960s catalog and drew attention for its stronger Northern Soul appeal than its original U.S. commercial profile. Contemporary coverage also singled it out as a vivid, driving soul record. The song became a Northern Soul favorite and stayed in circulation through later reissues and live versions, including appearances on compilation releases from the duo’s Warner-era material. It remained part of the Ike & Tina Turner canon long after the original single run.
