How Many MC’s…

How Many MC’s…

Black Moon · 1993
Recording

Recorded at D and D Studios in New York during the Enta Da Stage sessions, the track featured Buckshot, 5ft and DJ Evil Dee with production by Da Beatminerz. It was released by Wreck and Nervous in June 1993 as the albums second single with Act Like U Want It on the B side. How Many MCs became one of Black Moons defining early singles and reached number 97 on Billboard Hot R and B Hip Hop Songs. Its darker production and Buckshots controlled delivery helped establish the groups Brooklyn underground identity after Who Got Da Props. The track remains a core record from Enta Da Stage and a key example of Da Beatminerz early 1990s sound. Its title phrase, Grover Washington Jr sample and Boogie Down Productions vocal lift have kept it prominent in sample based hip hop history.
