Recording

Riton and Kah-Lo recorded "Fake ID" as part of their 2017 collaboration, with Kah-Lo on vocals and Riton handling the production. The track was built by the duo as a club single and later appeared on their 2018 collaborative album Foreign Ororo. Released in December 2017, "Fake ID" extended the Riton/Kah-Lo run of club-focused releases that had already drawn strong support from DJs and radio tastemakers. It was noted for its catchy underage-drinking premise and for reinforcing the pair's profile beyond their earlier breakthrough single "Rinse & Repeat." "Fake ID" became one of the duo's signature tracks and continued to circulate widely after release, including renewed attention on social platforms. Its hooks and samples also kept it active in remix and rework culture.
