Please Officer

Please Officer

Barry Brown · 1982
Recording

Barry Brown recorded Please Officer for Linval Thompson's Thompson Sound catalogue with the Roots Radics backing the session. Later Hot Milk editions document the material as recorded at Channel One Recording Studio and mixed at King Tubby's Studio by Scientist. The single belongs to Brown's late-1970s and early-1980s run of militant roots recordings for Linval Thompson. It placed his pleading vocal style over the heavy Radics and Thompson sound that defined much of his strongest early work. Please Officer remains part of the Thompson Sound 1979-82 body of recordings preserved through later Hot Milk and Thompson Sound reissues. Its continued circulation on 7-inch and compilation formats keeps Brown's Linval Thompson period central to his catalogue.
