Just Can’t Live My Life

Just Can’t Live My Life

Linda Jones · 1969
Recording

Released in 1969 on Warner Bros.-Seven Arts, the single paired Linda Jones with producer George Kerr and arranger Richard Tee, part of the New York soul sessions Kerr steered for her career. The record was issued as Warner Bros. 7278, with "I Just Can't Live My Life (Without You Babe)" backed by "My Heart (Will Understand)." The track became a Northern soul favorite rather than a mainstream hit, prized for Jones’s forceful vocal and Kerr’s dramatic production. Later retrospectives singled it out as one of the defining records from her Warner era. It remains one of Linda Jones’s signature deep-soul records and is regularly included on Northern soul compilations and reissue anthologies. Collectors and soul writers still cite it as a classic example of the George Kerr/Richard Tee sound associated with Jones.
