Losing Control

Recording

DBX recorded Losing Control at The Fourth Floor in Detroit for the 1994 Accelerate 12-inch. The record was written and produced by Daniel Bell under his DBX alias, with Detroit mastering and a parallel UK issue on Peacefrog Records. The track became a defining Daniel Bell record and a benchmark for stripped-down 1990s techno. Its filtered vocal treatment and minimal groove were singled out in later critical writing as distinctive for 1994. Losing Control remains DBX's signature track and one of the most enduring minimalist techno records of the 1990s. Later remixes by Robert Hood, Carl Craig, and Richie Hawtin extended its place in the Detroit and international techno canon.
