Just Don't Want to Be Lonely

Just Don't Want to Be Lonely

The Main Ingredient · 1974
Recording

Recorded at RCA's Studio C in New York for Euphrates River, with Cuba Gooding Sr. singing lead alongside Tony Silvester and Luther Simmons Jr. The trio produced the recording, with Bert DeCoteaux arranging and conducting and Dick Baxter engineering. The group's reinterpretation of Ronnie Dyson's 1973 recording became a million-selling hit, reaching number ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and number eight on the soul singles chart. It gave the Main Ingredient their second US pop top-ten single. The recording remains one of the group's signature performances and appears prominently on their retrospective collections. Shaggy later incorporated elements of it into Lonely Lover on Hot Shot.
