Catch the Break

Jedi Knights · 1997
Recording

A Tom Middleton and Mark Pritchard production issued by Jedi Knights on the 1997 EP The Big Ones EP, with the track running as the A-side cut "Catch The Break." It drew on a sample from Dennis Coffey and Luchi De Jesus's "Main Theme (Black Belt Jones)." The track arrived during Jedi Knights' mid-1990s run on Evolution/Universal Language and helped define the duo's breakbeat-led big-beat sound. It also became the title track on a UK charting single release that reached No. 96. "Catch The Break" remained one of the duo's best-known Jedi Knights tracks and was later singled out for inclusion on the 2000 compilation Jedi Selector. Its sample-based production has kept it in circulation among electronic-music listeners and DJs.
