Recorded at Cutting Records studio in New York City and originally issued in March 1994. The original production is credited to David Shaw, with Cevin Fisher as associate producer. It emerged as a New York club record that crossed over into the UK singles market, where it reached the Top 50 and later returned in remixed form. The original release was also a major dance-floor record in the US, where it later reached No. 1 on Billboard's Dance Club chart in its 1997 re-release. The track became a durable dance classic, spawning multiple remixes and reissues and being covered by 2 Shoes and sampled by Russ Chimes. It remained tied to Kathy Brown's signature club output and continued circulating through later house and garage reworkings.
