Das EFX · 1992
Recording

Recorded for Das EFX’s debut album Dead Serious during sessions at Firehouse Studios in Brooklyn and North Shore Soundworks on Long Island, with production credited to Willie Hines and Andre Weston. The single’s original release credits it to Atco EastWest/Atlantic. The track was Das EFX’s breakthrough single, peaking at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and reaching No. 5 on Billboard’s Hot R&B Singles chart. It also helped launch Dead Serious, which went platinum and established the duo on mainstream radio and rap charts. It remains the group’s signature record and a defining example of Das EFX’s rapid, slang-heavy delivery. The song’s style and hook gave the duo lasting recognition and kept it in rotation through later compilations and cultural references.
