Recording

Recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London for the 1974 album Coming Right at You, 'Windy C' features Danny Leake on guitar, Lawrence Reynolds on bass, Steve Maxwell on organ and John Jackson on percussion, alongside the band's horn players. The sessions were produced by Danny Leake and Rick Hartung, with engineering by Richard J. Langham. Originally released in 1974 on EMI International, 'Windy C' opened the second side of 100% Pure Poison's only studio album, Coming Right at You. The recording showcased the musicianship of the American group formed in Germany and subsequently became a sought-after recording among collectors of 1970s jazz-funk. 'Windy C' gained renewed recognition through rare-groove DJs, hip-hop sampling and compilation appearances, including Capitol Rare and Blue Note Trip 9. Its enduring appeal has prompted reissues by Soul Brother Records, P-Vine and Dynamite Cuts, while producers including Pete Rock and J Dilla have drawn on the group's recordings.
