Sunshine of Your Love

Recorded at Atlantic Studios in New York in May 1967, the track was produced by Felix Pappalardi and engineered by Tom Dowd. Jack Bruce and Eric Clapton shared lead vocals, with Ginger Baker supplying its distinctive tom-tom rhythm. The song became Cream’s biggest American hit, reaching number five in 1968. Its repeating bass-and-guitar riff and Clapton’s sustained guitar tone became defining features of the band’s sound. The song remains one of Cream’s most recognisable recordings and a widely learned guitar standard. Jimi Hendrix regularly performed it, and Ella Fitzgerald recorded her own interpretation.
