Gotta Keep Movin

Gotta Keep Movin

Willy Mason · 2004
Recording

Recorded at Old Soul Studio in Catskill, New York, during the 2004 sessions for Where the Humans Eat, the track features Mason on vocals and guitar with his younger brother Sam on drums. The album was recorded predominantly live, with performances limited to three takes. As the opening track on Mason’s debut for Conor Oberst’s Team Love label, it introduced the restless travelling perspective that reviewers identified in his early songwriting. The song remained part of Mason’s concert repertoire, opening his 2012 Manchester performance. Critics also connected it with Gotta Keep Walking, the opening track on his second album.
