The Word Is Love

Steve “Silk” Hurley · 1998

Recording

The Word Is Love was recorded in 1997 by Steve Silk Hurley and The Voices of Life with Sharon Pass on featured lead vocals. The song was written by Steve Hurley and M-Doc, with production credited to Steve Silk Hurley and Kelly G. The single became Hurley's strongest late-1990s UK chart entry and reached the UK Top 30 in March 1998. Its international releases and remix package connected Chicago house production with European club radio and dance-floor circulation. The Word Is Love remained one of Steve Silk Hurley's best-known vocal records after Jack Your Body. Later S&S Records editions and remix packages kept the song active in classic house catalogues.
