Jessie Ware · 2012Co-produced by Dave Okumu of The Invisible and Julio Bashmore, with the drum loop in the chorus based on Prince's "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker." The track was recorded as part of sessions for Ware's debut album Devotion, released through PMR Records and Island Records. Released on 24 February 2012 as Jessie Ware's debut lead single, the track drew critical praise for its Sade-like restraint and sensual cool, with Resident Advisor calling it a stunning record of "perspiring chords and sensually unspooling guitar." A remix by then-unknown duo Disclosure became one of 2012's defining club anthems, helping to launch both acts and cementing the PMR Records family of Ware, Disclosure, and Julio Bashmore as a cohesive force in UK electronic pop. The Disclosure remix became a dancefloor staple that endured far beyond the original single's release, later appearing as a bonus track on the deluxe edition of Disclosure's Settle and in the racing game Forza Horizon 2. The track's success helped propel Devotion to a Mercury Prize nomination and established Ware's career trajectory from underground electronic collaborator to mainstream pop presence.
