Recording

Recorded in Chicago by the mysterious soul group the Ivorys for Despenza Records. The original single paired "Please Stay" with "I'm in a Groove." "Please Stay" became a prized Northern Soul record after its original 1966 release. Later reissues and scene guides kept it in circulation among collectors and dancers. The track remains a Northern Soul favorite and has been repeatedly reissued, including on Wand and Outta Sight. Its continued presence on soul lists and record-sale notes has kept the Ivorys' name alive among collectors.
