You Made A Believer Out Of Me

Recorded in 1969 for Chicago-based Zodiac Records, 'You Made a Believer Out of Me' features Ruby Andrews accompanied by Detroit session musicians associated with Motown's Funk Brothers. Written and produced by Fred Bridges, Robert Eaton and Richard Knight of the Brothers of Soul, the recording features arrangements by saxophonist Mike Terry. Originally released as a Zodiac single in May 1969, 'You Made a Believer Out of Me' reached number 96 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 18 on the Billboard R&B chart. Its success established another national hit for Andrews following 'Casanova (Your Playing Days Are Over)' and demonstrated the commercial appeal of her collaborations with the Brothers of Soul. The recording gained renewed recognition through its inclusion on Andrews' 1972 album Black Ruby and subsequent reissues of her Zodiac catalogue. Its later use in Q-Tip's 2008 track 'Won't Trade' introduced Andrews' original recording to hip-hop audiences, extending its cultural reach beyond its initial chart success.
