Freddie Chavez · 1968
Recording

Freddie Chavez recorded and released the song in 1968 as the A-side of a Look Records single, with John Wagner credited as producer. It was issued as Look 5010 and paired with “Baby I’m Sorry.” At release, Billboard described it as a strong Motown-flavored soul record and suggested it could become a hit. It later became a prized northern soul record in the UK and remained the better-known Freddie Chavez title. The track endured through the northern soul scene and was featured in the 2014 film Northern Soul soundtrack. It continued to circulate on reissues and compilations, keeping it in circulation for later listeners.
