Act Like You Know

Recorded in Philadelphia by Fat Larry's Band during the sessions for the album Breakin' Out, with the group led by drummer and bandleader Fat Larry James. The recording featured the band's trademark combination of polished funk rhythms, soulful vocals and dance-floor oriented arrangements. Released in 1982, the song became one of the group's biggest international successes and a major club hit during the transition from disco to modern dance music. It helped expand the band's audience beyond the United States, particularly in the United Kingdom and Europe. The track remains Fat Larry's Band's best-known recording and an enduring favourite among boogie, post-disco and modern soul audiences. Its groove and vocal hooks have sustained its popularity with DJs, collectors and sampling artists for decades.
