Taking Libz

Produced by Newcastle-born DJ and producer Patrick Topping (born 25 February 1989), released as the title track of a three-track EP alongside "Brayed" and "Howk" on Jamie Jones's Hot Creations label. Hot Creations described the title track as the EP's concluding statement in which Topping firmly held onto his crown with an unstoppable cut, arriving during a period when his summer residency at Paradise DC10 and his Beatport number ones had established him as one of tech house's most dominant forces. i-D Magazine characterised his style as punchy, chugging basslines that had become weapons in the sets of many a DJ. The EP reinforced Topping's position as Hot Creations' most prolific and commercially successful artist, following his DJ Award for Newcomer DJ and Track of the Season in Ibiza for "Forget," and preceding the launch of his own Trick imprint which became one of the UK's most prominent tech house labels.
