Make It Happen
Playgroup · 2002Recording
Trevor Jackson produced, programmed, and arranged the track, with Kyra on vocals and Ted Milton on saxophone. The original single credits also list Luke Hannam on bass, Dick Cuthell on cornet, Pete Lockett on percussion, Al Stone on mix, and Mandy Parnell on mastering. It was the first Playgroup single issued before the debut album and established the project’s disco-not-disco template. Contemporary reviews singled out its slinky hi-hat compression and sax solo as standout details. The track remained one of Playgroup’s signature cuts and a reference point for Trevor Jackson’s blend of post-disco, house, and punk-funk. It continued to circulate through remixes, reissues, and later retrospective coverage of the Playgroup project.
