Billie's Blues (Daniel Y Remix)
Billie Holiday · —Recording
Daniel Yaghoubi created the remix from Billie Holiday's original master, recorded on 10 July 1936 with Bunny Berigan, Artie Shaw, Joe Bushkin, Dick McDonough, Pete Peterson and Cozy Cole. The remix was mixed by Josh Sadlier-Brown at Integrated Studios. Released on the 2007 album Remixed & Reimagined, the track placed Holiday's early blues performance within contemporary electronic production. It formed part of Columbia and Legacy's project introducing archival vocal recordings to modern audiences. The remix remains a notable electronic reinterpretation of one of Holiday's earliest self-written recordings. It helped extend the original performance into lounge, downtempo and remix culture.
