Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (Remastered 2009)
The Beatles · 1967Recording
Recorded on 1–2 March 1967 in EMI Studios’ Studio Two, the track features John Lennon’s lead vocal and Paul McCartney’s distinctive Lowrey organ introduction. George Martin produced, with Geoff Emerick engineering and tape-speed manipulation shaping the sound. Released on Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band in 1967, the song combined surreal imagery with contrasting verse and chorus rhythms. Its title, inspired by Julian Lennon’s drawing, prompted widespread speculation about an LSD reference. The song featured in the Beatles’ animated film Yellow Submarine and inspired numerous covers. The celebrated fossil skeleton discovered in Ethiopia in 1974 was nicknamed Lucy after the song.
