Nobody

“Nobody (Club Mix)” was written, produced and arranged by David Penn at Urbana Studios in Madrid. The recording features lead vocals by LaRae Starr and backing vocals by Dames Brown, the Detroit trio of Athena Johnson, Teresa Marbury and LaRae Starr. The single marked David Penn’s return to Defected after an eight-year gap and followed the club momentum of “Sunshine People.” Defected promoted it around its soul vocal hook, piano riffs and driving bassline. “Nobody” remains one of Penn’s key late-2010s Defected releases and was later included in his Defected presents House Masters compilation. It helped reinforce his position as a Spanish house producer with a long-running link to Defected and Urbana Recordings.
