Pasilda

“Pasilda (Extended Mix)” was released in 2018 by Melé and Shovell as part of the Melé In The House Sampler on Defected. The track is a cover of Afro Medusa’s “Pasilda,” with live percussion from Shovell and a live-recorded piano melody by Fraser T Smith. The release introduced one of the exclusive tracks from Defected Presents Melé In The House and had already been a highlight in Melé’s DJ sets. It updated a well-known turn-of-the-millennium club vocal for Defected’s late-2010s house audience. “Pasilda (Extended Mix)” remains documented through Defected, Discogs, Beatport, Bandcamp and Apple Music listings. It stands as Melé’s official Defected-era reinterpretation of Afro Medusa’s club standard, with Shovell’s percussion central to the new version.
