Uptown Funk

Uptown Funk

Mark Ronson feat. Bruno Mars · 2014
Recording

The track was assembled in jam sessions with Bruno Mars and Jeff Bhasker, with Mars on drums and Ronson on bass and production duties. It was developed around sessions in Los Angeles and other cities while Ronson was finishing material for Uptown Special. Released in 2014, it became a runaway global hit and Ronson's first major U.S. chart leader. It helped make 2010s pop radio briefly swing back toward live-band funk and retro R&B textures. It became one of the defining pop singles of the decade and a durable party standard. Its success kept Ronson and Mars visible as architects of a mainstream funk revival and led to countless covers, performances, and references.
