I Get Deep
DJ Le Roi · 2007Written by New York house vocalist Roland Clark and produced by Swiss duo Mirco Esposito and Cedric Eichenberger (operating as DJ Le Roi), the track was the debut release on their Deeptown Music label. Clark's "I Get Deep" vocal had originally been recorded around 2000 and was separately used on Fatboy Slim's "Song for Shelter" in 2001. The track became a deep house staple upon its May 2007 release, with Traxsource describing it as a massive floor filler that combined crystal clear beats and infectious basslines with Clark's unmistakeable spoken-word vocal. A remix package on Get Physical featuring Joris Voorn's "This Is Not A Remix," DJ T., and Late Nite Tuff Guy extended the track's reach across the European club circuit. The track has been continuously repackaged with fresh remixes over nearly a decade, including a 2011 edit and 2015 reworkings by Soulmagic and Husky, cementing it as one of the most enduring deep house records of the late 2000s and one of Roland Clark's most recognised vocal performances alongside his work with Basement Jaxx, Bob Sinclar, and Todd Terry.
