Mrs. Robinson

Simon & Garfunkel · 1968
Recording

The track was recorded in 1968 during sessions for Bookends and developed from music Simon and Garfunkel had supplied for The Graduate. Paul Simon wrote the song, with Simon and Art Garfunkel recording under producer Roy Halee for Columbia. Released as a single in 1968, it became one of Simon and Garfunkel biggest hits and the first rock song to win the Grammy Award for Record of the Year. The single reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and became closely tied to the cultural impact of The Graduate. It remains one of Simon and Garfunkel signature songs and one of the most recognizable American pop recordings of the late 1960s. The song has endured through film history, oldies radio and notable later covers, especially the Lemonheads version.
