I Got a Thing

I Got a Thing

Silver, Platinum & Gold · —
Recording

The track appeared on Silver, Platinum & Gold's 1976 self-titled Farr Records album, recorded with the vocal trio of Edna Richardson, Flo King, and Renee King-Heard. Hubert Heard produced, arranged, and played keyboards on the album, with Dee Ervin credited for remix production and Reggie Dozier for mastering and remix work. Released in 1976, the recording formed part of the group's first album after its earlier Warner Bros. single La-La Love Chains and the Farr single Just Friends. The album placed the former backing-vocal trio in the mid-1970s Los Angeles soul and club-record market. The track later became the group's best-known collector title through Dimitri From Paris's Disco Forever compilation and his extended disco re-edit. That reissue profile kept it active among rare-disco and dance-music DJs beyond the group's short original run.
