Newcleus · 1984
Recording

It was cut during the Jam on Revenge era for Sunnyview Records, with Ben Cenac’s Newcleus lineup and Joe Webb producing. Jay Mark engineered the track and Jonathan Fearing handled the mix, giving the single its polished electro finish. The song became the group’s intended follow-up to their earlier breakthrough and helped define Newcleus’s futuristic electro sound in 1984. Contemporary coverage singled it out as one of the album’s standout cuts, with praise for its glossy production and club-ready impact. The track has remained part of early electro and hip-hop memory, and it later turned up in the video game Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX. It continues to circulate through compilations and online music culture as one of Newcleus’s signature recordings.
