Recording

Originally recorded for the 1972 production-music album Mindbender, Safari Park was composed by French musician and arranger Roger Roger. The recording formed part of the Stringtronics project, which brought together compositions by Barry Forgie, Anthony Mawer, Nino Nardini and Roger Roger for the Peer International music library. Released in 1972 by Peer International Library Limited, Safari Park was an instrumental composition intended for use in film, television and other media productions. Its driving rhythmic arrangement and prominent instrumental groove distinguished it from the more atmospheric string-led compositions on Mindbender. Safari Park became a sought-after recording among library-music collectors, DJs and rare-groove enthusiasts as original copies of Mindbender acquired significant collectors' value. Its inclusion on Music for Dancefloors: The Cream of the Chappell Music Library Sessions and subsequent reissues of Mindbender introduced the recording to wider audiences.
