Make Me Happy

Created from Cooly's Hot Box's song Make Me Happy, written by John Christian Urich and sung by Angela Johnson. DJ Spinna remixed and added production to the 1998 version, with Michael Fossenkemper providing additional production and Criminal of the Jigmastas contributing rap vocals. Released by Sole Music in 1998, the remix recast the song as a groove-led blend of soulful vocals, hip-hop production and club rhythm. Its inclusion on Mark Farina's Mushroom Jazz 2 introduced it to a wider downtempo audience. The remix remains one of Cooly's Hot Box's best-known recordings and an enduring selection from the late-1990s soulful underground. Later reissues and compilation appearances preserved its association with the Mushroom Jazz sound.
