SWV · 1997Recording
Recorded in 1997 for Release Some Tension, with production and programming from Sean "Puffy" Combs and J-Dub and additional programming by Stevie J. AllMusic lists Daddy's House Recording Studios among the album's documented recording locations. Issued on July 29, 1997 as the second single from Release Some Tension, the track paired SWV with Puff Daddy and became a major crossover single. It reached number 19 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 5 on the Hot R&B Singles chart, and number 34 on the UK Singles Chart. The song remains one of SWV's signature late-1990s singles and a marker of the group's hip-hop crossover period. Its Puff Daddy feature and gold-certified success kept it prominent in SWV retrospectives and 1990s R&B playlists.
