Puke It Up
wAFF · 2013Written and produced by Leeds-based producer wAFF, released as the fourth catalogue entry on Jamie Jones's Hottrax imprint, the darker, club-focused offshoot of Hot Creations, with the B-side "Love" completing the twelve-inch. Jamie Jones and Carl Cox were both hammering the track before its August 2013 release, arriving on the back of wAFF winning DJ Mag's Best Single of 2012 for "Jo Johnson" from his Rainbows EP on Hot Creations. Word and Sound described both cuts as head-tripping and immaculately crafted techno, with the label press calling wAFF a firm fixture in the clan of hot creative hedonists. The track appeared on Beatport's Crate Diggers 2022: Tech House retrospective and remains a touchstone for the dense, physical drum-track style that defined the Hottrax catalogue during its formative years, alongside early releases from Christian Burkhardt and Chris Wood and Meat.
