Meltdown

The track was recorded by King Midas Sound, the project of Kevin Martin with Roger Robinson and Kiki Hitomi, and released through Hyperdub as part of the Five Years Of Hyperdub compilation before appearing on Waiting for You…. Kevin Martin is credited as producer and composer on the album release. Meltdown served as the lead track on Five Years Of Hyperdub and as a preview of King Midas Sound’s debut album, Waiting for You…. Contemporary coverage described the album as a distinctive, intimate strain of urban soul and dub, with the track helping introduce that sound to a wider audience. The song became one of the group’s signature early recordings and remained part of the core presentation of Waiting for You…. Later summaries of King Midas Sound’s catalog still cite Meltdown as a key track from the project’s debut era.
